John Lewis are looking to increase their IT budget in the new year with plans to hire 500 new workers and to further invest in information technology.

The popular retailer is investing nearly £500m in its online platforms including e-commerce, mobile apps and digital marketing. Their workforce have almost trebled in size in the last six years due to recent investments in IT and the trend looks set to continue into 2016 with the number of IT professionals looking to increase to 2,000.

Offshore contractors look to be included in the number of increased personnel coming in to its London centre. Andy Street, managing director of John Lewis has outlined a three-year IT plan that includes state of the art warehousing as well as improved systems, forward planning and shopper analysis. The plan is to create a better online experience for John Lewis customers and create a "seamless" journey to further increase online sales.

Just like the old saying goes, if you want success, you have to reach for the moon.
