My client are looking for an Azure consultant to be based in Sheffield on an initial 6 month contract.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

*experience as a senior WebOps engineer in a high profile, high volume web based system

*understanding of common web application architectures

*experience configuring and managing Linux servers and windows

*experience debugging a complex multi-server service

*scripting or basic programming skills

*familiarity with network protocols - TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, etc.

*deploying and configuring machines in a cloud environment

*understanding of application deployment strategies and continuous integration approaches

*working within a product-centric environment

*experience working in an agile environment with across multiple projects

*knowledge of the use of version control systems such as git or subversion

*confident with configuration management tools

*experience deploying web services

*experience working in an agile environment with across multiple projects

*comfortable communicating clearly with senior stake-holders and non-technical business owners to understand priorities and argue for taking the longer path when appropriate.

*broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies

*experience in having to make tradeoffs around technology or implementation choices on various axes including production readiness, security vs usability, and cost

*experience using and deploying on cloud based platforms

*experience sharing knowledge and working in a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable

*Understanding of techniques for management of encryption keys and certificates

*Knowledge of the principles underlying public/private key encryption schemes.

*Experience of installation, management and use of open source monitoring tools

*Experience designing and implementing zero-down-time deployment web services

*Experience with open source solutions and community

*Experience of developing product roadmaps, backlogs and measurable success criteria, and of writing user stories, i.e. can establish a path to delivery for breaking down stories
