Exciting opportunity for an experienced SAS Software Engineer to support, coach and mentor the current delivery team with expertise in all aspects of the delivery life cycle. The team deliver a wide range of key measures. The team is being run using Agile approaches, and the successful candidate should be experienced in working this way as well as being an expert SAS developer. The team requires strong technical consultancy services to deliver to very tight and challenging timescales. Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary delivery team to design, build, support and improve new and existing digital products.

Work plan:

*Delivery of technical solutions, considering user needs, re-use, data management, resilience, performance, scalability and security in collaboration with the IT Architecture community

*Provision of coaching and mentoring of technical team members in best practice and setting standards (source control, development lifecycle, refactoring, coding standards etc.) both for software and infrastructure with a culture of collaboration, communication and creativity

*Work with colleagues to coordinate solutions between multiple development teams and products, ensuring knowledge transfer between teams

*Provision of expertise in multiple programming languages and technologies across a range of different software products, specifically but not limited to SAS, SAS/AF, SAS Enterprise Guide Custom Tasks, C# and Git as a source control tool.

*Delivery of documentation, coaching and support to other team members working with a range of different technical areas, e.g. software design and development, test, technical architecture, infrastructure.

Essential skills and experience:

*Expert in full application design, development and deployment lifecycle and specifically using Agile Methodologies

*Expert in use of SAS Base and Macro including Enterprise Guide (minimum 5 years experience)

*Expert in using SAS/ACCESS products and ODBC to connect to databases such as ORACLE and INGRES.

*Strong team player, collaboration and communication

*Provide mentoring, coaching and support to other members of the technical team

Desirable skills and experience:

*Familiar with SAS/AF, Enterprise Guide Custom Task creation with C#, SAS Stored Processes and SAS Metadata Server
