We're looking for a quality-oriented technologist to strengthen our QA team and support the Toy Safety Manager with day-to-day operations - reviewing product, maintaining our QA system and managing our quality reporting system, to
ensuring a smooth and fully certified supply chain. This role requires an organised team member who communicates effectively with others outside their team to fulfil the QA process and ensure that products and packaging consistently meet the rigorous standards of the toy industry across the globe.

About the Role

Your aim will be to ensure that all products are safe, compliant and fit for purpose. Working within QA and reporting to our QA & Toy Safety Manager, your main responsibilities will be:

Maintaining our essential robust Quality system including:

  • Product review & assessment reporting
  • Coordination of product testing and certification with 3rd party test facilities and factories.
  • Technical file compilation in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Product tracking meeting key milestones of the critical path and data confirmation within our Netsuite system
  • Ensure all shipments are supported by applicable, in-date certification and comprehensive technical file.
  • Packaging/artwork reviews.
  • Creation of Declarations of Conformity for each product.
  • Support sales and customer services, addressing issues, technical queries, and product specific data requests.
  • Work on full project lifecycle with a Cradle to grave approach either by line or with key customer accounts.
  • Keep abreast of technical and regulatory developments within our industry on a global scale.
  • Contribute to the development of QA procedures and manuals.
  • Investigate poor performing lines, product failures and customer complaints.

You'll be supported by a team of great people, and will be collaborating with our Supply Chain department, the category manager, customer service and our IT/Systems department, many of which are located in our offices around the
world.

A bit about you

  • You must have previous experience or training in a Quality & Compliance role or similar.
  • No specific qualifications are required, but experience in product and packaging risk assessment; technical file data collection; and familiarity with the high quality standards of the toy and gifts industry will be valuable in this role.
  • Retail and/or sourcing experience in any form will be useful, as it will give you a good understanding of the industry we work in and commercial acumen to enable value products to be produced
  • Another competency which would add value is knowledge of manufacturing environments and Far east suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of UK/EU compliance legislation and quality management systems, namely, the Toy Safety Directive and EN71; any USA compliance experience is a bonus.
  • IT proficiency (specifically Excel, with the ability to adapt to inhouse systems) will be vital.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the capability to implement procedures and gather data.
  • A logical thinker with the ability to analyze numerical and written data.
  • Strong investigative skills with the ability to identify risk and implement effective solutions.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work with counterparts in other countries, including external testing agencies.
  • Flexibility and a team spirit will be highly valued attributes in this role
