One of our long standing clients are looking for an experienced Network Professional to assist their existing team with an upcoming network installation.

This role will require mostly onsite work in Leicester and fall with IR35.

You will be part of a Network Team that is responsible for designing and operating scalable, maintainable, highly available, secure network architectures that meet business objectives and agreed SLAs.

The current wired network infrastructure is based on HP Comware switches (5500's, 5900's and 10500;s). However, we currently are in procurement for a new wired network utilising Extreme Fabric technology (5420 & 7520 switches) with rollout scheduled for Q2 & Q3 2024. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in this transformation activity.

Responsibilities

- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)

- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations

- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability

- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning

- Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues

- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure

- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the security team

- Liaise with other IT personnel to aid problem resolution

Requirements and skills

- Experience of providing an IT support service to end-users across a broad range of systems with a specialism of network systems.

- Experience in configuration and management of network systems including installation, maintenance, configuration and testing.

- A broad technical knowledge of network infrastructure technologies including switches, firewalls, load balancers, proxy operation, Wi-Fi services.

- Ability to follow technical procedures in order to diagnose and resolve network service problems.

- An understanding of service management methodologies particularly, incident, problem and change.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience in the following would be beneficial:

- HP Comware switches (5500's, 5900's and 10500;s switches) .

- Aruba Wireless Network, (Aruba Mobility Conductors, Gateways and ClearPass, and Airwave)

- Load Balancer A10

- EfficientIP IPAM (DHCP/DNS)

- Checkpoint Firewall
