The Day Job

The Senior technical architect will provide technical leadership and take responsibility for architectural design and support the agile teams in the implementation. This will require a good understanding of a broad range of technology and the skills to converse easily with and translate between non-technical stakeholders and technical practitioners

The specific technical skills we require are:

*The ability to design and deliver current state / future state architectures and roadmaps that are aligned to the customers organisational / business objectives and technology drivers.

*Expertise in digital technologies and approaches including cloud (SaaS/PaaS/IaaS/cloud native), common front and back end technologies, software defined infrastructure, continuous delivery and DevOps.

*Good working knowledge and hands on experience of technologies including Java, microservice architecture, containerisation, enterprise integration patterns, data storage in a highly available, distributed products.

*The architect will engage with SME and specialist architecture experts, such as Security and Infrastructure Architecture, in order to manage the delivery of the overall design taking into account specific technical aspects.

Key Responsibilities

*Identify and evaluate technical options to solve a business problem

*Work with third party suppliers and other teams elsewhere within the customers organisation to evaluate any technical reuse, opportunities and risks

*Recommend an appropriate technical solution for a specific business problem and set out how this might be implemented from a technical perspective. This will include considering issues such as security, licensing and on-going support

*Present to local and organisation TDA functions, solution aspects for review and approval.

Ensure delivery is in-line with technical and governance standards from the customer and within the Sopra Steria delivery frameworks as appropriate.

*Support the Agile teams with a knowledgeable hands on approach to support ceremonies and backlog.

Essential Skills

*The ideal candidate needs to be an enthusiastic individual and who has exceptional customer-facing skills with a proven capability to successfully articulate technical solutions to both technical; and non-technical audiences.

*Have a keen interest in innovating with emerging technology, be networked into the industry, and you will have the drive and motivation to make a difference.

*Cloud native delivery skills following open standards in - Containers, As a Service, AWS, Microservice, Serverless Functions and data insight solutions.

*Proven record in developing architectures as part of Digital programs with in-depth knowledge and experience of Agile delivery toGDS requirements.

*Java and Open Source solutions, with knowledge of wider frameworks packages in niche areas such as content management and document management systems.

*Microservice and cloud native patterns including data management, event based integration and leveraging data to generate insights.

*Experience in designing systems for integration and re-use, using frameworks/standards, technologies and design patterns such as API Gateways, Message Brokers and token based security.

*Designing solution and leading digital delivery teams to using Agile and DevOps methodologies to ensure automation and delivery pipelines flowing from development, testing, infrastructure as code to automated deployment.

*A demonstrable record of designing solutions to key non-functional requirements including cyber/security policies, resilience, logging, errors and scalability

*Enterprise Architecture knowledge and are able to engage effectively with client solution/enterprise architectural and management teams

*Pre-sales experience

*Pro-actively work with the business stakeholders and IT colleagues to ensure delivery timelines are met
