DATA ENGINEER

INSIDE OF IR35

REMOTE WORKING/GLASGOW

JANUARY START

3 MONTHS INITIAL CONTRACT

We have a great contract opportunity for a Data Engineer; focused around Management Information products such as Dashboards, SQL-Driven reports and Power BI Dashboards.

This is role is for 3 Months initially, with a likely extension to follow. This role is spilt between Remote Working and Glasgow and has been deemed Inside of IR35.

Some of the key responsibilities and experiences for this role are;

- Investigating, designing, and delivering Management Information products that give users access to key data and information using a range of technologies, including web dashboards, Data Mart, SQL-driven reports, Analytics cube, APIs, Power BI dashboards, and Elastic Search.

- Developing data products using a range of modern technologies including data lakes, analysis tools and data visualisation.

Some of the other key skills required for this role are;

* Technical understanding (data engineering). You understand core technical concepts related to the role and can apply them with guidance. You will have the following skills:

1.Recognise opportunities to re-use existing data flows.

2.Lead the build of data streaming systems.

3.Optimise the code to ensure processes perform optimally.

* Relational databases. You will have a background in relational databases with knowledge of data structures.

* Data modelling. You understand the concepts and principles of data modelling and can produce relevant data models across multiple subject areas. You know how to reverse-engineer data models from a live system. You understand industry-recognised data modelling patterns and standards and when to apply them. You can compare and align different data models.

* Data analysis and synthesis. You know how to undertake data profiling and source system analysis and can present clear insights to colleagues to support the end use of the data.

* Data development process. You can design, build and test data products that are complex or large-scale.

* Data integration design. You know how to select and implement the appropriate technologies to deliver resilient, scalable and future-proofed data solutions.

* Business Intelligence. You will have up to date experience of principles, technologies, and techniques (data warehousing, data modelling, ETL, KPIs, APIs) and a strong understanding of data flows and both relational and dimensional reporting.

* Database experience. You will have expertise in writing queries,

stored procedures, and functions in SQL and using integration, analysis, and reporting packages. Optimising the performance of existing system interactions to deliver the best user experience.

* Problem resolution (data). You know how to respond to problems in databases, data processes, data products and services as they occur. You can initiate actions, monitor services and identify trends to resolve problems. You can determine the appropriate remedy and assist with implementation of it as well as preventative measures.

* Programming and build (data engineering). You know how to use agreed standards and tools to design, code, test, correct and document moderate-to- complex programs and scripts from agreed specifications and subsequent iterations. You can collaborate with others to review specifications where appropriate.

* Testing. You can review requirements, specifications and define test conditions. You can identify issues and risks associated with work while being able to analyse and report test activities and results.

* Communication skills (data). You know how to communicate to and between technical and non-technical stakeholders as well as facilitate discussions within a multidisciplinary team, with potentially difficult dynamics. You can advocate for the team externally. You know how to manage different perspectives.
