Virtual Desktop Engineer - NATO

My defence client is recruiting for a Virtual Desktop Engineer to join a NATO project in Mons, Belgium. The initial contract will be until the end of September and an extension until at least the end of the year is likely.

Due to the nature of the role, an SC or NATO Secret clearance is required at minimum.

Summary:

Candidate will perform design, implementation, and configuration of virtualized and physical IT architectures supporting virtualized and physical desktop environments.

Responsibilities include:

* Manage HIPS, DLPe, Application Control, Change Control, ENS policies

* Expert-level knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and applications, preferably Windows 10, Windows Server 2016

* Building, configuring, and deploying enterprise policy orchestrator and agent handler servers

* Review policies and exceptions for the various End Point Security modules and provide best practice recommendations

* Analyse, architect, test and document deployment strategy of endpoint security systems mandated by client

* Work directly with Vendor and Engineering on improvements of the project's solutions

* Generate solutions to complex problems which integrate into the program environment

* Identify issues and create improvement processes to help with the reduction of incident outage times

* Operational understating of server-desktop type enterprise application setups

* Operational understating of packaging, distribution, and post deployment configuration of common productivity software

* Operational understating of virtual desktop infrastructure, preferably VMware Horizon View

Qualifications:

* 5-8 years of related systems engineering experience

* Create custom policies for HIPS, DLP, Change Control,

* Implement, operate, and maintain network security devices

* Work with security engineering team to integrate new capabilities, plan lifecycle replacements, and provide input into the security architecture roadmaps

* Maintain, configure and troubleshoot Linux based appliances and servers to include McAfee IDS/IPS

* Create programmatic documentation, standard operating procedures and granular process checklists

* Manage the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems

* Maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems

* Sets up administrator and service accounts

* Maintain system documentation

* Interact with users and evaluates vendor products

* Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

* Develop and implement testing strategies and document results

* Demonstrated understanding of End Point Security impacts on virtual desktops, databases

* Experience configuring Microsoft Group Policy

* Experience integrating End Point Security in a Microsoft Windows 7 & 10 in a VDI environment

* Demonstrated ability to work with little or no supervision

* Demonstrated ability to define and refine application virtualization requirements for customer environments

* Demonstrated ability to interact with customers and external teams to gather critical project information.

* Understanding of DNS, DHCP, and Certificate Management
