Java Developer - SC Cleared

My client are looking for a Java Developer to work on a secure government site based in Yeovil, you will be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of IT software and applications ensuring the solutions delivered are reliable and effective and in line with company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

*Develop and implement new software programs

*Maintain and improve the performance of existing software

*Clearly and regularly communicate with management and technical support colleagues

*Design and update software databases

*Test and maintain software products to ensure strong functionality and optimization

*Recommend improvements to existing software programs as necessary

*Identifying options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability

*Working closely with colleagues, testers and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction

*Supporting users on change control and system updates

*Providing training and user materials to users

*Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively

*Strong attention to detail

Essential Skills:

*Technically strong in Java EE, Data Structures, Object Oriented Design, Swing, FX, ASP, XML

*Strong in Web Services technologies (SOAP, HTML 5, Java script)

*Familiarity with CSS will be a plus.

*Experience with PDM and/or PLM SW and exposure to Electrical Cabling design would be beneficial

*Good appreciation of industrial software solutions and architectures

*Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities

*Ability to learn new technologies

*Ability to understand the electrical distribution system design and manufacturing flows/processes

*Highly self-motivated with an eagerness to learn and take initiatives

*Follow software development best practices, lifecycle and methodologies

(e.g. Agile, System Requirements Specifications, Unit test,…)

*Object oriented programming

*Architecture for OO development in particular, designs for robustness, Inheritance and reuse of functionality.

*Working from a legacy code base.

*Unit testing, where practicable, addition of unit tests to provide robustness.

*Short cycle, rapid development (an Agile like approach but not following all Agile precepts)

*Source code control in particular familiarity with Subversion.

*Siemens / Mentor Capital API Data Model experience would be advantageous but not mandatory.
