Wintel Engineer (Infrastructure Server specialist)

6 Month contract initially

Gloucester based

Daily rate - £275 - £325 DOE

We have an excellent opportunity for a Wintel Engineer (Infrastructure Server specialist) to join the team on a long term program of work. The ideal candidate will be familiar working in a secure environment and hold Security Clearance, upto SC level.

Key Responsibilities:

The Level 3/4 Infrastructure Server expert is responsible for Windows Servers, Patch management, Image management with vast experience in troubleshooting issues of Windows OS and various services running on these platforms. Along with providing 3rd Level support for BAU team the principle activity will be delivering projects.

In conjunction with the 'Purpose of the Role' statement above, the job incumbent will be required to work under own initiative and act as technical lead on Projects assigned to them by Lead Architect/Project Manager.

*Continued operational support coverage

*On-call support to be provided

*Administration for directory services platforms to include configuration, policy configurations, troubleshooting and getting to root cause analysis, system design, upgrades, and configuration of monitoring tools.

*Expert in Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2012

*Good configuration and administration of VMWARE ESX

Operational Role Requirement:

*Perform periodic audit and determine the operating effectiveness of the information security controls.

*3rd Level support for server operating systems including performance monitoring, operations planning,

troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.

*Monitor Bandwidth utilisation, uptime, and Security logs.

*Work with Project Managers and Lead Architect to deliver projects. Assist with producing requirements and providing proposals/costed solutions

*Assist with reviewing designs and providing feedback

*Assist in disaster recovery and business continuity planning and support.

*Participate in capacity planning including forecasting of needs for future infrastructure related purchases

*3rd Level support for Active Directory records and structure.

*Work effectively with relevant teams to investigate and resolve technical issues, and communicate progress with stakeholders across the business.

*Maintain up to date system installation and configuration documentation, as well as related processes and procedures.

*Research new innovative technologies, methodologies and automated approaches that may benefit the company, leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.

*Participate in BAU Operational support and Projects delivery work as instructed by the Line Manager.

Key Skills & Experience:

Significant expertise in Windows Server in a multi-tenant environment, Providing 3rd Level support.

*In-depth working knowledge on managing Windows Operating Systems (Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server, Windows 2012 server) on Physical and Virtual infrastructure.

*In-depth working knowledge with respect to identification , troubleshooting and resolution of Windows Operating System issues.

*Quantifiable extensive hands-on experience in identification, troubleshooting and resolution of various services running on Windows Operating system.

*Significant experience in delivering EUC (End User Computing) solutions and understanding the End to End Infrastructure. From Windows 7 & 10 Devices, Core Applications and management of these devices using the in-place backend infrastructure.

*Significant quantifiable experience in proactive monitoring, performance management and tuning on Windows based platform.

*In-depth knowledge on monitoring and managing vCenter console, ESX Farms and data stores.

*Significant quantifiable knowledge on Antivirus Management.

*When in a lead / supervisory / managerial role, is good at establishing clear directions of others with the ability to set stretching objectives.

*Significant quantifiable experience in networking as related to operating systems.

*In-depth knowledge on OS deployment using SCCM or any other tools. Quantifiable extensive knowledge on Patch management.

*Quantifiable knowledge on Active Directory.

*Significant quantifiable knowledge on ITIL standard processes.
