SC Cleared Head of Data Strategy & Capability

The successful SC Cleared Head of Data Strategy will have the following responsibilities:

- To lead and direct departmental teams responsible for providing business support and governance to operations, corporate, and central service functions to achieve the organisations strategic objectives.

- The Head of Data Strategy and Capability role is integral to achieving the organisations strategic deliverable of transforming the way in which data is understood, used and managed across the organisation and providing professional leadership in the areas of digital data management and capability.

- Lead the development, communication and implementation of the organisations Data Strategy.

- Lead the CDO Data Strategy and Capability Team.

- Provide technical leadership to selected major organisation data projects and operations.

- Develop and professionally lead the organization's data management and data science functions.

- Grow and support data skills and understanding across the organisation.

- Provide the CDO and other organisational leaders with advice on data and data strategy.

- Participate in organisation data governance and technical governance relating to data.

- Carryout horizon scanning on data, data science, and data engineering.

Support the CDO in representing and liaising with other government departments, external bodies, and industry on matters relating to data capability.

The successful Head of Data Strategy must have the following skills/experience:

Knowledge:

- Good knowledge of data science

- Good knowledge of relevant legislation affecting Agency activity and an appreciation of the political context of the Agency's work.

- A good understanding of information governance and security requirements .

Skills:

- Digital information management e.g. CMS, EDRMS, Mastering Data, Knowledge Graphs

- Data Architecture

- Excellent report writing/drafting skills.

- Analytical skills.

- Proficient in the use of Information Technology.

Experience:

- Proven experience of leading a multifunctional department or team.

- Experienced in effective decision making with accountability for decisions made.

- Experience of business planning and monitoring performance.

- Experience of policy development.

- Experience in designing and implementing digital information change.
