As the technical architect, the successful candidate will be responsible for defining the overall structure of a program or system. As the Technical Architect will be working from start to finish on each project, it's essential to understand all aspects of each system, from both a business and technical point of view. This means having a full working knowledge of technologies such as UNIX, Oracle, SQL Server and TCP/IP for example, as well as knowledge of one or more programming languages.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within a healthcare environment and will have worked on scoping out technical requirements for new systems and reviewing supplier responses.

Essential Skills include:

* Education at a degree level especially in an IT related discipline is necessary but not mandatory. However, a thorough understanding of hardware and software components of the computer and computer networks is very important. A technical architect must have extensive knowledge of technologies such as java, SQL, C++ and their applications

* Good communication skills - A technical architect must possess effective communication skills that will allow him convey complex technical details to clients in a straightforward manner Strong problem solving skills - He/she must be good at thinking up innovative ideas and solutions to problems. A technical architect must be an analytical thinker and logical in approaching issues

* Ability to build from good relationships with clients/operational managers and colleagues

* Ability to gather and assimilate information

* Up to date knowledge of technical applications

* Good knowledge of quality standards, legislation and best practice

* Flexible and innovative: A technical architect must be innovative and should be up-to-date with current technologies. He/she must be able to identify technical issues and fix them. Most importantly, he/she should be flexible in making plans and program decisions. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

* Ability to think ahead and anticipate problems, issues and solutions

* UNIX, Oracle, SQL Server and TCP/IP

* MS Visio, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Adobe (PDF Creator etc.)

* Formal IT and/or programme processes e.g. ITIL Foundation/Agile

* Up to date with the latest changes in software and technology that's relevant to the business or clients
