NODEJS DEVELOPER - SC CLEARED

My client are looking for a NODEJS Devloper to help grow its internal capability.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll lead the development of a citizen facing digital service built using NodeJS & Express, hosted on a common PaaS e.g. AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Azure Web Apps or GDS Gov PaaS (CloudFoundry).

You'll ensure high quality code is delivered in line with project goals and delivery cycles. You'll thrive on using agile methods and enjoy working openly. Above all, you'll want to make government better, which may sometimes involve challenging the status quo.

As a Developer you'll:

- collaborate with technical architects, business analysts, user researchers, product managers and others to shape and build new digital services that meet user needs.

- promote engineering excellence, writing clean, secure and well-tested code

- be responsible for the operational stability of the products you build, and ensure the on-going robustness and resilience of those products

- share knowledge of tools and techniques with your wider team, both developers and non-developers

- act as a digital ambassador across government, supporting recruitment, identifying good practices to adopt and sharing experiences.

It is essential that you have demonstrable experience of;

- front-end and back-end development, with detailed knowledge of NodeJS & Express.

- relational databases such as PostgreSQL

- public cloud PaaS platforms such as Amazon Web Services Elastic Beanstalk, Azure Web Apps or the GDS Gov PaaS.

- common JavaScript libraries such as jQuery

- version control, specifically git

- CSS, Saas and common responsive design approaches

- object orientation including concepts such as inheritance, polymorphism

- using appropriate design patterns (e.g. abstract, factory, singleton) and data structures (e.g. linked list, graph)

It is desirable that you also have demonstrable experience of;

- working as part of fast paced multidisciplinary agile teams

- GDS elements and GDS Prototype Toolkit

- continuous integration / continuous deployment

- building accessible services compliant with W3C standards

- test driven development

- infrastructure as code

Education

- Good degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar, or equivalent industry experience.

Due to the nature and urgency of this post, candidates holding or who have held high level security clearance in the past are most welcome to apply. Please note successful applicants will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment which can take up to a minimum 10 weeks.
