DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Plan, manage and monitor the delivery of IT projects

*Manage project resources and initiate corrective action where necessary

*Direct and motivate project teams

*Ensure that projects have a sound quality management process

*Produce the Project Initiation Definition and assist with project definition

*Produce and present management status reports for project board and steering group meetings with senior University managers

*Proactively manage the risks within a project and plan appropriate avoidance or reduction actions

*Manage the project budget

*Manage gathering of requirements and documentation of business processes

*Assume responsibility for change control and configuration management

*Work with the Project Board, or its appointed Project Assurance roles, to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project

*Agree technical and quality strategy with appropriate members of the Project Board

*Identify and obtain any support and advice required for the management, planning and control of the project

*Develop formal tender documents and manage delivery of the project according to formal quotations supplied by vendors

*Manage European procurement exercises in respect of major projects, in conjunction with the IT Services Finance Team

*Liaise closely with stakeholders to ensure that user requirements and quality expectations are properly understood, and that information about projects is effectively communicated

*Engage and motivate individuals whose contributions will be necessary to ensure success

*Promote effective project management

*Carry out project assurance role on projects managed by others, and provide guidance to less experienced project managers
