Coast Risk Analyst

Poole, Dorset

c£31,000 Plus Benefits

Our client is the charity that saves lives at sea. They are now looking for a Coast Risk Analyst to join their team at their Head Office in Poole.

The Operations Research Unit supports our client through the provision of quantitative analysis of risk around the coastline of the UK and Ireland. Our client’s evidence informs operational decisions about the allocation of resources, including lifeboats, lifeguard units, coastal safety and flood response teams.

If you enjoy making quantitative data come to life and want to see evidence contribute to our client’s aim to reduce drowning, this could be the role for you. Our client is looking for an enthusiastic data analyst with an eye for detail to provide dedicated support to the Operational Policy team.

To be considered, you will need experience of the following:

- Presenting technical subjects confidently to a range of internal and external audiences

- Using analytical findings to inform decisions, ideally in a blue light environment or equivalent

As a Coast Risk Analyst, you’ll be naturally inquisitive with the desire to understand trends and patterns in data and the communication skills to explain these to a non-technical audience.

Ideally, you’ll have an understanding of the maritime, marine or coastal environment. Experience of the following would also be beneficial: making and maintaining relevant relationships with technical and policy teams or drafting papers for senior managers and committees on technical subjects.

In return, you’ll join a fun and friendly team and will have the opportunity to work closely with decision makers in our client’s Operational Policy team.

Our client operates a range of different working arrangements for their analysts and welcome applications to work flexibly.

The closing date for applications is the 8th April 2018, with interviews scheduled to be held on the 23rd April 2018.

Our client’s staff and volunteers have been saving lives at sea without prejudice for nearly 200 years. They respect and value diversity of background, skills and perspectives within their teams, and consider it essential to help deliver a world-class lifesaving service. They are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from everyone. In addition to having the skills needed for the role, they also look for applicants who share their commitment to living their values (trustworthy, courageous, selfless, and dependable), and helping them work towards their goals of halving drowning in the UK and Ireland by 2024. This involves a growing commitment to preventative action, using expertise to work in partnership with communities locally, nationally and internationally to prevent drowning.
