Job role

This is a really exciting time to join NEL CSU. As part of the NHS you will play an important technical role in the development of mobile applications across the business to support patient healthcare. This role will see you working as a Mobile Developer (iOS / Android) where you will be able to extend your skill set. Your expertise and skills will help to develop new and exciting digital products to help transform future healthcare. If you enjoy trying out new ideas and technologies and are at your best when building applications using hybrid mobile app technologies then this post is for you.

This job role is available in Kent or London. Salary subject to change depending on London waiting.

Role specific duties and responsibilities

The post holder will undertake the following duties and responsibilities;

Technical lead on the development of new mobile application products

Strong expertise and knowledge in mobile applications on IOS and Android

Strong expertise in Application Programming Interfaces

Excellent at migrating projects and database management

A solution thinker when faced with complex technical challenges

A desire to make a significant contribution to digital healthcare

Manage multiple technical development projects at any one time

In addition:

Writing code and scripts for a wide range of design applications

Build and implement new user-facing features

Optimise mobile applications on the iOS platform and Android platform.

Develop multiple prototypes in a fast-paced environment

Develop, maintain and manage existing and new Apps (both Android & IOS)

Lead on the complex deployment of Apps / Databases / Websites (new and existing) to new and existing customers. Manage all aspects of the scheduling of database / app / website upgrades, including communication with all customers.

Plan and manage development strategies in relation to which new technologies should be used and research how this will impact on the existing product set.

Plan and lead on project scope identification, data architecture development and project planning in defining new Apps for customers.

Manage projects ensuring they are delivered through effective development delivery and are supported by appropriate project plans and other related project documentation.

Budget management for development delivery

Responsible for the procurement of appropriate aspects of required solutions and the integration of chosen third party solutions within NEL CSU’s technical architecture

Manage third party suppliers to deliver against requirements as well as securing their services through appropriate procurement and contractual routes

Lead on the migration of the existing Health Help Now App to Xamarin

Lead on the development of any new Apps using Xamarin and other applications. Ensure all files associated with the corporate apps are under source control (TFS).

Ensure all databases associated with corporate apps are fully backed up with a robust disaster recovery procedure in place.

Work closely with the Application Development team in the management of the Health Help Now website

Act as an app technical expert and reference point for all technical queries

An advanced knowledge of software development tools, appropriate IDEs and version control systems, SQL Server Management Studio, MySQL.

Experienced in full development lifecycle and knowledge of software engineering practices such as Agile

Knowledge and understanding of building Apps using both Android and IOS.

Experience in publishing apps to iTunes and Google Play stores.

To ensure that system developments are aligned with internal and external stakeholder objectives and national/local strategy

Undertake research and understanding of the wider technical market and competitors
