Bring the highest levels of digital leadership, knowledge and vision to key projects for a leading chemicals producer
AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals (SC) provides a wide range of high quality and sustainable ingredients that are integral to numerous key industrial processes worldwide. Thus we serve high profile customers in sectors including paints, detergents, foods, plastics, cosmetics, construction, pulp and paper, pharmaceuticals, electronics, agro and oilfield applications.
SC has always been a technology leader and as the organization takes its exciting next step as an independent company it will further embrace the digital revolution, with the ambition of being the digital leader in the chemical industry. To this end the newly formed Center of Expertise (CoE) Digital in Information Management will support business teams with the highest levels of digital technology and expertise. This will range from customer facing front ends to providing new insights based on enterprise data.
Within this context, your mission in this role is to help our Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) teams to achieve their Digital ambitions. You lead an ISC Value Domain team consisting of solution architects and project and service delivery managers, and you draw on an ecosystem of preferred vendors including developers, testers, and system/cloud administrators.
Is this a challenge that matches your profile as a creative, results focused, and inspirational (Digital) leader? Can you demonstrate experience of acting as the interface between highly demanding business units and the teams delivering and maintaining digital solutions? Have you successfully managed teams tasked with delivering and operating digital solutions while driving a culture of open feedback and innovation? Above all, can you make a real difference within our dynamic, multinational and multicultural business environment?
If you offer all this and more, we invite you to apply for the position of Value Domain Manager Integrated Supply Chain.
The role and its responsibilities
This important role is based at our Global Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Your core task is to assume end-to-end responsibility for the development and operation of solutions designed to optimize the customer experience (CX) for Digital ISC processes.
Thus you support business teams with expertise on the development and operation of systems for IoT, data insights, and facilitated learning. You manage solution demand and forecast, manage the project portfolio, and provide guidance on project execution.
In order to achieve this you lead a business driven, stable, and multi-disciplinary ISC Value Domain team that realizes projects and takes end-to-end ownership of the applications it realizes. The team works closely with the product owner from the business side, and with developers and operations teams in a DevOps way of working. The team is responsible for incidents and changes while the application is in DevOps mode. The team is supported by other IM roles, and by Information Architects, Security officers and integration architects.
Within this process you manage the expectations of the business teams and define the criteria for success, including challenging but realizable scope, timelines and budgets. You also signal potential roadblocks and play an active role in steering committees.
In addition you support the business teams with Digital business innovation, and you drive a Digital culture at all times as you work closely with the wider ISC business teams at headoffice an in the business units, third party ecosystem, and other Digital teams (R&DI etc).
You optimize the (internal and external) customer experience for ISC digital initiatives, manage knowledge and expertise of ISC Digital solutions, and ensure adherence to guidelines and best practices. You also help define the ISC Digital Technology strategy, deliver the strategic ISC Digital portfolio and initiate Digital innovations.
All of this requires the skills of a knowledgeable, accessible, and committed individual who can thrive in a multi-disciplinary and (partly) agile environment.
You should know to balance clear accountability with the flexibility that enables you to act as a designer, consultant, expert, teacher, leader, or doer as the situation demands.
To apply for this position you must possess all the following attributes:
• University degree in a subject such as Business Administration or Engineering, and a keen interest in digital technology;
• 10+ years of relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within a matrix organization similar to AkzoNobel;
