Due to expansion, an award-winning digital agency and delivery arm of a leading applications provider to the public sector is seeking an experienced Linux (LAMP) web hosting/DevOps Engineer! This consultancy architects digital change, helping clients create new and effective systems suitable for emerging challenges of modern businesses. Experts in areas of; digital readiness, vision, experiences, communities, compliance, integration and security. Key clients include the likes of Skoda, West Yorkshire Police, Taylor Wimpey, Gov.uk and more.
The Role
The Linux Web Hosting/DevOps Engineer will be sat in the managed services team and will be tasked with monitoring alerts and ensuring SLAs are met, executing planned operations and preventative maintenance activities and working closely with the client to keep the systems up and running 24/7. Core Responsibilities include;
* Working on a range of small to enterprise level builds
* Promptly and adequatley responding to emergency situations, including client communications
* Contribute to the creation and maintenance of new and existing IT infrastructures, including automation
* Participate in all aspects of projects implementation stage (deployment, monitoring, alerts, escalation)
* Linux Systems Administration as part of 24x7 on call-duties
Essential
* Linux OS to intermediate level (CentOS/Debian)
* Experience using Linux web hosting environments (LAMP)
* Good understanding of software installation (from repo and source), patching and scripting
* Experience with Nagios, NewRelic, Splunk etc
* Experience in Cloud services, prefereably AWS (EC2, ELB, Route53, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, SES, Cloudwatch)
* Experience with MySQL - databases and web servers configurations, performance optimization, high availability, load balacning and scalability
* Good experience in database and web servers maintenance including backup/restore and troubleshooting
* Ability to setup and manage infrastructure applications (software patching and server management software)
* Confident with any of the following; Bash, Python, PHP
Desirable
* Config Management tooling such as Bamboo
* Automation techniques using Ansible, Jenkins/Bamboo
* Any relevant IT certifications. Masters degree in Computer Science or related degree would be an advantage
