Position: Technical Product Manager

Location: Reading

Salary: 36500 - 55000 per annum

Reporting to the Head of Product, the role will include complete lifecycle management of ADSL and Fibre Optic (FTTC & FTTP) broadband services plus associated CPE hardware (routers) and peripheral services. This role will include the opportunity to develop new services within the portfolio and the need to facilitate growth of the existing portfolio.

This is an ideal opportunity for a self-starter to take ownership of the management and

development of an award winning product range at an exciting time in the evolution of internet access technologies.

Key Accountabilities

Produce and implement a product line plan for CLIENTs Broadband portfolio including; market and competitor analysis, product roadmap, pricing & launch strategies, financial projections and recommendations and actions for improvement.

Lead and deliver Broadband strategy, steering the direction of the requirements for new products and services, product enhancements and service improvements. This will specifically need to consider the transition from xDSL to FTTX technologies, meeting the need for ever changing customer needs and expectations

Identify new business opportunities for the portfolio (range extension, new product/service offerings, new channels to market, third party alliances, etc.) and develop business proposals for address these opportunities.

Drive timely and effective product enhancements and developments from both an internal and external customer perspective. These will operate within a Product Lifecycle Management framework and will require extensive collaboration with other teams across.

Monitor product performance on a monthly basis and work proactively with internal stakeholders to maximise the success of products in terms of unit sales, margin contribution, operational performance, customer satisfaction and retention.

Undertake detailed competitor analysis and develop understanding of competitor market share and product set. Use this information to create business develop strategies which seek to draw out key benefits of CLIENT versus the competition within each segment

Developing close working relationships with internal stakeholders and third party vendors.

Provide strategic and financial input and direction to the companys annual business planning

Keep abreast of latest product, service, technology and regulatory developments within the industry

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Experience

Deep understanding of Fixed line Telecoms especially technologies, operating models, tools and key customer journeys.

Experience managing internal and 3rd party vendors

A background of working within fast-paced, consumer focused organisations

Business Knowledge

In depth knowledge of key performance metrics

Excellent understanding of regulatory and strategic challenges facing CLIENT and the residential telecoms industry as a whole

Functional / Technical Skills

Excellent analytical and numerical skills suitable for interpreting, summarising and challenging key performance data

Complete self-starter able to identify the problem, evaluate solutions and then get it done

The gravitas and intellectual rigour to interface with external stakeholders

Deep knowledge of working across the service delivery chain, including internal functions and strategic partners

Sound knowledge and appreciation of using insight and continual improvement techniques to improve the customer experience and operational efficiency

Impressive written and verbal communication skills, comprehensive and succinct report writing, ability to create communications suitable for senior management

Comfortably uses both data and insight in decision making

Project Management & Planning skills

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Non-negotiable skills:

B2C Telecoms experience

Solid understanding of the product on the market, and commercial accumen.

Experience working in agile environments will be a definite advantage

Brand new role to the business came about through the hire of a new Director of Telecoms, and re-structure of the team. Has been filled late last year, but the candidate dropped out.

The candidates coming through will need a thorough technical understanding; there will be support provided on the sales and marketing side

KEY SKILLS:

B2C telecoms background, technical understanding of the product available on the market.
