Contract Opportunity: Content Designer, Public Sector, 2 Months, Bristol (Remote Working)

Our Public Sector client is transitioning to GOV.UK. The role will involve close working with SMEs, senior managers and wider Defra content team. We have developed a set of core user needs and content plan. A specialist is required to take forward development and delivery of the content plan. The specialist will work within a small project team made up of a project manager, the communications team and technical web team. They will have regular contact with subject matter experts from across the organisation.

1. Lead the development of content for transition of some content from the clients website to gov.uk.

2. Delivery of content redrafting and publishing with existing publishers and 'information owners'.

3. Content redirects strategy and management with GDS

4. Development of taxonomy and naming conventions in conjunction with wider DEFRA content team

5. Coaching in house staff to develop greater knowledge and understanding of Whitehall Publisher and GDS standards within the FC

Key Skills/ Experience

* Have experience of transitioning a Government department from a standalone website on to gov.uk

* Have extensive experience of writing content for gov.uk, with proven ability to create complex content in a clear and succinct way

* Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, with the ability to see the bigger picture and translate business issues and needs into relevant, actionable plans and objectives

* Excellent communications skills and ability to present findings in a creative and compelling way

* Experience of working on services which align to the Government Digital Service's Design Principles and Digital Service Standard

* A pragmatic, can do attitude to delivery of objectives to short timescales

* Experience of building stakeholder relationships to generate understanding of benefits of good content design and gov.uk proposition

* Experience of coaching/mentoring others to build their knowledge of content design and working with gov.uk

* Previous experience of working within government organisations

* Experience of dealing with web content for specialist audiences

* Experience of taking detailed, technical information and presenting it in an accessible way
