Role: Infrastructure Engineer - Data Centre Management

Skills & technologies:

* Supporting enterprise level physical compute such as Dell or HP

* Data Centre management

* Redhat and Windows O.S support

* Automation tools for example Chef and Jenkins

* Monitoring & associated tooling for example Opsview, Prometheus & Graphite

* Programming and scripting for example Bash, Powershell, Python & Ruby

* Networking, DHCP, DNS and IPAM

* Working within an agile environment

* Working within a small focused team

What you'll do:

* Own and run technologies as a domain subject matter expert in a small autonomous Infrastructure & Security squad

* Be a strong Site Reliability Engineering practitioner with broad Dev/Sec/Ops skills

* Provide Significant input into the roadmap for squad services, coached by TL's/EM's

* Run and delivers value streams independently, with support from the rest of the team

* At a senior domain engineer level:

o Act as a go-to subject matter expert for the squad on technologies, advising the squad on their domains best practice and best way to deliver squad goals

o Lead in operational incidents for the squad

How you'll do it:

* Designing and implementing projects for new automation and shared tooling

* Development in an appropriate programming language.

* Support and develop our squad products and services

* Supporting other Operational and Delivery teams with automation and shared toolset queries and requests

* Work closely with other teams, implementing changes that help improve speed and release quality

* Responsible for reviews of platform code changes, approving or suggesting improvements to authors as appropriate

* Be a go-to domain expert on critical components making up the squad products and services

* Own issues from initial diagnosis through to implementation of a fix

* Write and keep up to date documentation

* Challenge and suggest improvements to existing systems or processes on an ongoing basis

* Own improvements to the tools, following the software development lifecycle through test and into live
