About the Team:

Business Operations is made up of a number of key functional areas, all focused on providing a safe and secure environment in which our people and customers can operate. We deliver our services to both internal and external customers every day and we provide the infrastructure (exc. IT and Network) upon which the business operates.

Your Role:

Your role as Head of Health & Safety and Certifications will be split into three really crucial areas. Firstly, you`ll be the leader within occupational health and safety and act as the `go to` expert in the field. As well as the UK business, you`ll be facing off to Telefonica SA for all health, safety and radio frequency (RF) health matters. Secondly, you`ll play a key role in providing and maintaining security governance processes to Telefonica UK, achieving external security standards and maintain certification. Last but not least, you`ll be responsible for leading and managing people within the team.

Responsibilities:

-To provide leadership of occupational health & safety; providing and maintaining systems and frameworks for issues including stress, incident reporting, and supplier standards

-Act as the `Competent Person` for all health and safety business undertakings; reporting safety risks and issues to the CEO and Board, and dealing with Local Authorities and other public bodies in matters of safety

-Act as the primary interface with Telefnica SA for all health and safety matters; working with counterparts in Telefonica SA to ensure alignment of strategy and working practices, and ensuring Telefnica UK`s radio frequency working practices are legal with respect to health and safety law

-Be accountable for providing and maintaining security governance processes to Telefonica UK, act as security process owner; provide bid support from Business Operations to Business Sales teams by assigning resource to answer technical bid questions and win new work; this role also supports with dashboard reporting

-Be accountable for achieving external security standards, and maintaining and reviewing certifications, ensuring appropriate resource is assigned to ensure ongoing maintenance

-Manage a team of safety and security professionals and direct resource in line with security strategy, ensuring the team are motivated and inspired, are aligned to the vision, and understand how their roles fit into the wider structure and strategy

Skills & experience:

-Membership of the Chartered Institution of Occupational Safety and Health and a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner

-Extensive experience working at a senior level in Health and Safety within a global blue chip corporate environment

-Proven ability to work and integrate activities with senior managers and stakeholders

-A proven ability to manage and develop a team of professionals

-An understanding of the cultures and behaviours of different nationalities and an ability to foster good working relationships with a team from different countries

-Experience of delivering governance, compliance and due diligence solutions to large organisations

-Excellent presentation skills

-The skills to prepare clear, concise, business focused reports at Board level

-The ability to review, develop and implement internal processes and metrics to ensure efficiency

-A good working knowledge of the telecommunications networks, technology and devices
