My client a world leader in their chosen market sector is urgently recruiting for a CCNP certified Cisco Network Engineer on a 3-6 month contract based in Hertfordshire.

Role description

My client is transitioning their datacentre from a traditional Catalyst based switches to Nexus with ACI. The datacentre is made up of a mix of technologies built on Cisco switching and routing.

Responsibilities:

*Check and maintain baseline status of network

*Health check of DC network and daily checks

*Carry out changes to add new services to datacentre under change control

*Respond to incidents and tickets, close or escalate these to conclusion

*Troubleshoot and fix issues arising in BAU

*Knowledge share and train other members of team to assist in building up confidence and experience of ACI

*Attend weekly status meetings

*Raise changes to seek approval from Change Control

*Document tasks, create or update knowledgebase articles

Required skillset:

*Minimum CCNP level accreditation. 2-3 years of experience working with Software Defined Networking, ACI would be an advantage

*Excellent understanding of Cisco Datacentre architecture

*5 years of general networking experience

*Good understanding of switching and routing configurations, protocols and hardware

*Basic networking security principles

*Ability understand complex diagrams and visuals

Desired but not essential:

*Sound understanding of network security

*Any experience of Cisco/Check Point Firewalls

*Load balancing with Citrix Netscaler or other platforms

*Quality of Service, shaping and priority queueing in networking

*Voice and video delivery
