Senior PHP Web & Application Developer, Newcastle upon Tyne, Permanent - £35K

Senior PHP Web & Application Developer/Software Engineer required by one of the UK's most successful organisations. Head-quartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, I am worknig with one of the UK's fastest growing businesses, dominating the market the segments we operate in. Since 2007, we've grown to 650+ staff, operating in over 45 countries from our 10 offices in the UK, America, Singapore and Australia.

Due to this exceptional growth, an opportunity has arisen within the Web and Application Development Team for an ambitious and hard-working Senior PHP Developer.

As part of the development team you will be responsible for:

* Designing & developing solutions within our bespoke MIS application, to provide the management with full visibility across the entire business.

* Building multi-brand, multi-language scalable B2B & B2C websites, mobile applications and marketing solutions.

* Integrating our systems with 3rd party applications and services.

* Working closely with the Lead Developer to enhance existing development best practices, processes and governance.

In order to be considered for this position you must have;

* 5+ years' software development experience

* Extensive knowledge and experience in PHP 5.3+, MVC Frameworks, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, version control

* Experience architecting, building and maintaining complex software applications

* Strong understanding of object oriented programming

* Working experience of unit testing, preferably test driven development

* Working experience of continuous integration

* Strong debugging skills

* Experience of giving and receiving code reviews

* Experience in Linux server administration

* Good knowledge of database performance optimisation

* Worked with a team of multiple developers on the same project

* Worked with a QA team

* Working experience of using issue tracking software to manage project workload

In addition you must;

* Have strong analytical skills

* Be passionate about your work and coding practices

* Demonstrate attention to detail

* Take the initiative

* Be self-instructing and able to manage your workload
