A Manchester systems developer that quietly flies under the radar delivering some of the most innovative retail solutions available needs a Google Cloud Partner DevOps Engineer to continue growing their reputation as the UK's first and foremost GCP e-commerce partner.
As a DevOps Engineer, you will join a friendly, pragmatic and dynamic team in an exciting, fast-paced environment with great opportunities to advance your career, working with the most interesting of technologies and supported by the sharpest of minds. Reporting into the Head of Production, you will have a good understanding of architecture design and implementation as this will be a key part of the role.
You'll also be responsible for automating tasks and updating old / manual processes and the development / testing of live application environments. By nature you will be a thinker and a builder.
Responsibilities
- Support different teams (back-end, front-end, mobile) in their Infrastructure needs.
- Help the company embrace CI/CD pipelines by utilising off-the-shelf tools and building custom integration when needed.
- Delivering in a high paced, stable environment.
- Developing full ownership and responsibility over our infrastructure stack
- Cementing your place as a subject matter expert in GCP DevOps through continuous personal development
DevOps Engineer Role Requirements
- Good experience working with Google Cloud Platform (preferably) or Amazon Web Services at scale
- Strong working knowledge of configuration management tools such as Puppet and Chef
- Containerisation and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- PHP, OOP and SOLID principles
- Experience with different database and storage systems (MySQL, Redis, etc.) and database management and optimisation
- Experience with Docker / Docker Compose
- Git Version Control
- Linux server administration & monitoring
- Experience with CI/CD tools . i.e. Jenkins, PHP-CI or similar
- An understanding of the TCP/IP stack
- Understanding of firewalls, load-balancing, networking and security principles in the cloud
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- An inquisitive, innovative and practical outlook
