A rapidly expanding, entrepreneurial technology company is seeking two ambitious, talented Firmware Device Engineers. Very few small companies innovate and develop across such a broad range of technologies so if you want to stand out from the crowd and make a difference this is the Firmware Engineer role for you.
The Firmware Engineer position is ideal for candidates who want to work with the latest technologies within the Medical Device Industry specialising in Sensors.
Responsibilities:
* Develop embedded firmware design for life safety systems and components in a challenging global market
* Work closely with electronic design engineer on system design and integrate firmware and hardware components of the overall system design
* Research and identify the cause of bugs, malfunctions and issues to initiate corrective actions and effectively resolve them in a timely fashion
* Design complete firmware features and embedded C/C++ functions to work in constrained and low power environments to meet specifications, schedule, and efficient operation
* Collaborate with and present/teach technical information to hardware, software, research, manufacturing, marketing, compliance, and quality group members within and outside of project team
* Operate independently but working with the senior management to understand and be fully aligned with company goals and strategies
* Build systems that balance resources, constraints, requirements, and complexity by analysing all possible options for designing and deriving the best solution based on sound analytical judgement
* Select and develop the most feasible firmware features and architecture to best perform the required functions
Key Skills Required:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a similar technical discipline; or, equivalent demonstrable experience is required Master of Science degree preferred
* 4+ years of firmware engineering experience in software design, hardware design is a plus
* Experience developing a variety of consumer electronic products while taking increasing responsibility for analysis, design, implementation, and deployment tasks
* Highly skilled in embedded firmware design, architecture, state machines, and algorithms Knowledgeable and forward-thinking regarding technologies and developments in embedded firmware development, sensors, short and long-range wireless communication, and power management
* Rigorous attention to detail with focus on robustness, scalability, and quality of products Leadership experience with the ability to motivate others and build consensus
* Organised with strong communication skills and a customer service mentality Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a small, fast-paced environment
Desirable:
* Experience or have a passion for working in the Medical Device industry
* Previous experience wireless background with a knowledge of accelerometers sensors
