Big Data Engineer - Scala / Hadoop - London

The global leaders in Healthcare Analytics are seeking a Big Data Engineer to join their thriving Predictive Analytics team.

You will be joining a company which boasts over 50,000 employees globally, learning from colleagues with previous experience from some of the most renowned companies in technology, healthcare and consulting.

As a Big Data Engineer, you will be contributing to innovative projects, including the development of the company's real-time platform which provides global clients in the healthcare industry with insights and analytics to measure and improve the treatment of patients worldwide. With over 20 petabytes of data to play with, you will have the scope to experiment the latest technologies, such as Hadoop and Spark, to publish 10's of billions of rows of data to your clients' systems.

Candidates should be self-starters who are at ease with autonomy, as there will be the opportunity to work from home, and capable of managing their own time. You will be working as part of a newly formed team of 6 London-based Engineers, expected to double in size over the next 3 months, so you must be comfortable in this kind of environment.

This would be an ideal role for an able coder in Scala (3+ years) or someone with a great deal of experience in Java, currently working on Scala projects and looking to make the transition.

Required skills

* Functional programming - Scala / Spark

* Understanding of distributed systems

Nice to have:

* Interest in healthcare / pharma

* Hadoop or Big Data experience
