This is an exciting opportunity to influence, challenge and lead on ambitious finance systems changes at HMRC - the organisation at the heart of UK public finances.
You will join us at an exciting moment. We are transforming systems and processes in all kinds of ways, to achieve a number of important goals. This includes everything from automating significant amounts of transactional activity, through to re-engineering processes so we can make the best use of technology. We’re also exploring designs, sequencing and strategy to enable successful convergence of Heads of Duty systems onto the SAP platform. You’ll have a key role to play.
As a Financial Systems Accountant in our team, you’ll take a pivotal part in determining the optimal alignment between finance system functionality and finance process efficiency. Your broad remit will extend beyond Finance Operations to span the whole HMRC Finance Community. We will rely on you to identify opportunities to exploit existing systems functionality and optimise finance processes, so that we can make our business more efficient. You’ll enjoy scope to influence and challenge design proposals, and to ensure innovation and automation is at the heart of design. Crucially, you will use your expertise in SAP systems and financial processes to lead the implementation of SAP strategy deliverables, and drive improvement in response to user needs.
To be equal to the challenge, you’ll need a Financial, Business or IT related degree and professional IT qualifications such as BCS Diploma, together with recognised accountancy training - for example, ACA or CIMA. Your knowledge spans everything from general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, through to procure to pay processes, SAP Query and reporting. Commercially minded, you have proven experience of exploiting SAP functionality - from standard modules, to integration - to transform processes in a finance environment. You also demonstrate strong analytical skills in reviewing and evaluating complex financial data.
