The Role
We are currently looking to find a Microsoft Desktop Engineer for an exciting 6 month role based in the Edinburgh area. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in the following areas
Essential Experience
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE).
Microsoft Active Directory
Microsoft Windows 7/10
Microsoft Systems Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM)
Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT).
Microsoft Office 2013/2016.
Bitlocker
Job Overview
Provide technical guidance and act as subject matter and technical expert on the installation, configuration and migration of enterprise managed desktop clients and devices. The role will provide technical expertise and support for the installation, configuration and migration of Microsoft Windows based desktop and laptop clients.
Day to Day responsibilities
*Work closely with the Digital Service Manager, and also incumbent suppliers acting as a project technical lead to oversee the implementation of the new Windows 10 based desktop client at locations throughout Scotland.
*Ensure the smooth uninterrupted transition of desktop services and devices, with focus being the end-customer.
*Take an active part in the installation, configuration and migration of desktop services & devices.
*Collaborate with the business to gather requirements and coordinate non-functional and functional testing.
*Produce clear technical documentation and knowledge base articles to support the service delivery team.
*Act as advocate to fellow project team members providing input and guidance into the desktop strategy.
*Plan and implement the migration of users from current standard desktop configuration to the new standard desktop configuration.
*Provide regular highlight reports and escalate issues accordingly
