Role Purpose

The Head of Solutions Design & Architecture is responsible for the creation and maintenance of an enterprise capability to provide an architecture function that promotes the creation of coherent solution, software and security architectures and supporting governance frameworks that enable the organisation to enhance its frontline services though the delivery of strategic digital solutions.

The Head of Solutions Design and Architecture directs the creation and maintenance of security, solutions and software architectures which meet the needs of the business whilst delivering value for money.

The Head of Solutions Design and Architecture is responsible for ensuring that projects and programmes are compliant with the security and solutions architectures, and that their software architectures will deliver value for money for architecture.

The Head of Solutions Design and Architecture is responsible for reducing technical debt within architecture, to improve customer service and reduce annual spend.

Essential Requirements

* Comprehensive experience of solution architecture and demonstrable success of aligning IT with business and managing the delivery of associated technical services, solutions and architectures and technologies within and architectural frameworks.

* Familiarity of modern open source development tools and languages (e.g: Java / .net) running on cloud platforms such as AWS. Recognized software engineering and Dev Ops / Platform Engineering / Cloud skills.

* Experience in the application of architecture best practice and governance in application rationalisation, application development and integration the selection and integration of solutions in the process of modernisation is considered essential for this role.
