Unix Systems Administrator / Support - Contract - 3 months (initially) - Cambridge.

My client, a leading Medical Research Institute, is looking for an experienced Unix Systems Administrator / Unix Support for an initial 3 month contract which is likely to extend. You must have experience with Unix Scripting (Perl)and with BAsh scripts, as well as some XML scripting experience. The client has a number of sources of scientific data which need to be defined (as an XML dataset), clean-up and catalogued for third party use. The requirement is for a skilled and hard-working Unix Administrator Unix support consultant to work with this data, to identify and consolidate the data formats, to catalogue this data and make it available through a number of different channels.

*Data exploration, clean-up, transformation and load in a Unix / Linux environment using a number of tools and techniques (may include Excel, Bash scripts or the Linux text utilities, Python)

*Experience of data representation and transformation through XML schemas or JSON representations

*Good documentation skills and methodical approach to addressing data quality issues and the production of documentation to describe the data set and process
