Technical Support Manager

Portsmouth

I am recruiting a Technical Support Manager on behalf of a FTSE 100 Engineering Organization and true market leader within engineering support for the maritime and defence industries.

To manage the reactive technical support capability demands of Queen Elizabeth and Type 45 Class marine systems and equipment. To direct and allocate the resources as necessary for the safe and successful planning and execution of technical support activities across the range of systems and equipment within the scope of Marine Systems Support Partner.

This is a challenging role that requires an accomplished marine engineer whom is passionate about delivering an exceptional service to the customer

Principal Tasks & Responsibilities

* To manage the MSSP reactive engineering function at Portsmouth waterfront (Operational Defects (OPDEFs), unintentional deviations from design intent (S2022), maintenance concessions and technical queries)

* To manage in-house and sub-contracted staff to ensure delivery of technical support services to time, cost and quality.

* Act as the Senior Marine MSSP representative in Portsmouth and exercise a duty of care for health and safety to all.

* Ensure compliance with company processes and internal and external regulator and customer technical requirements.

* Sustain the MSSP technical support function at Portsmouth, identifying opportunities, championing improvements for the MSSP reactive engineering service.

* Comply with Company safety rules and regulations or local procedures and any Company initiatives to improve safety.

Interfaces

* The MSSP Systems Technical Authority (Chief Engineering Teams) in delivery of engineering outputs.

* The MSSP Technical Service for line management and adherence to engineering processes

* The Type 45 and QEC Class Warship Technical Authorities as part of enterprise engineering processes.

* Across the Team Assure organisation, OEMs and other stakeholders.

Requirements

* HND in an engineering discipline or professionally registered to IEng or equivalent experience clearly demonstrating no less than 5 years as an engineering middle management role.

* (Desirable) Experience in Operating, Maintaining, Diagnosing and Repairing (ODMR) complex warships.

* Proven ability to work in a collaborative manner across a multi-disciplinary team.

* (Desirable) Project Management qualifications.
