Title: SQL Server DBA / Database Administrator

Job type: Contract

Location: Winchester, Hampshire

Duration: Initially 6 months

Rate: Dependent on experience

Role:

This SQL Server DBA / Database Administrator will administer, maintain and utilise policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the databases. Accept and release new data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance code into BAU service.

Responsibilities:

* Regular requests for environment refreshes

* Specific programme tasks as detailed with the user stories from each work stream

* To carry out the tasks associated with the bi weekly project Meetings

* Encryption: We are constantly extending the 'always encrypted' aspect of the project when new fields are added

* The configuration of permissions and certificates

* Work to a 2 hour SLA for all call queries

Experience Required:

* Significant knowledge of database systems, in particular MSSQL (2008/2012/2014/2016)

* Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) with SQL Serve

* Strong Knowledge of SSIS and SSRS

* Knowledge of database performance factors, monitoring tools and tuning procedures

* Knowledge of fault detection and resolution processes (ITIL processes

* Strong Knowledge of maintenance tools and procedures relating to DBA activities

* Good productivity factors and ability to understand impact of problem on overall database performance

* Installing/configuring/maintaining new SQL installations (both cluster and stand-alone), SSIS and SSRS

* High availability and DR technologies - log shipping / mirroring
