Engineering Team Leader ARM & ROM

A market leading FTSE 100 Defence organisation is currently recruiting for an Engineering Team Leader ARM & ROM to take on a permanent position ASAP. The company is highly regarded for its employee recognition and vital position in today's market place. The main purpose of the role is to manage, co-ordinate and support the ARM&ROM (Availability, Reliability & Maintainability and Review of Maintenance) Team in undertaking activities necessary to deliver the ARM&ROM Team Outputs and maintain effective and efficient ARM&ROM processes.

The main responsibilities of the role are as follows -

Technical Support

* Act as the main point of contact for all DSPM ARM&ROM processes.

* Provide technical knowledge and support to other areas of Engineering Services related to activities of the ARM&ROM Team.

* Chair progress, technical and contractual meetings with customers, suppliers and internal members of the Engineering Services.

* Ensure records are maintained of the decisions and actions reached in delivering ARM&ROM outputs.

* Undertake other ad-hoc and emergent tasks as directed by the Process Manager.

Project Management

* Utilise Project Management best practice in ensuring delivery of ARM&ROM Outputs as defined by the MSDF Annual Plan.

* Manage subcontractors to ensure that outputs are delivered to the required quality, programme and cost.

* Promote the development of good working relationships and communications with all internal and external stakeholders.

* Provide regular and adequate communication with the Process Team Manager to report Scheduled and Continuous task progress, performance, Risks and Issues.

* Ensure the Management Information System is updated for all ARM&ROM tasks.

* Lead development and delivery of ARM&ROM MSDF Annual Plan Bid response.

Resource Management

* Create, issue and maintain of Terms of Reference for staff under their control.

* Set SMART objectives and conduct appraisals of subordinate staff, in accordance with employee parent company requirements and process.

* Assess and utilise the skills and experience of individual staff to enable tasks to be placed at the appropriate level.

* Manage the ARM&ROM Team staff in the execution of their duties (detailed in the individual staff TORRs and objectives) advising the Manager - Process Team when resource issues arise.

Continuous Improvement

* Analyse customer feed-back to continually improve the performance of the team.

* Proactively lead on identification and implementation of business improvement and efficiency initiatives related to ARM&ROM activities.

* Maintain the team's procedures and processes to ensure they remain current and identify where processes and update strategy may be improved and implement agreed changes.

* Responsible for ARM&ROM Team management tools and working documentation, directing reviews as necessary to ensure they remain current and identify where processes may be improved.

The successful candidate will display the following skills and experience -

* Incorporated Engineer with an Honours Degree in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths (STEM) based discipline; (or)

* Qualification to NVQ4 /HND / BTEC Level 5 in a relevant STEM discipline augmented by significant experience in a relevant STEM field.

* Engineering experience within a Maritime Support Engineering environment.

* Experience of successfully managing teams is desirable. Preferably supported via formal recognised qualifications such as certification from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).

* Project Management skills and experience, preferably supported via formal qualification with the Association of Project Managers (APM).

* Be proficient in the use of appropriate Project Management & IT tools (especially MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, and MS Visio).

* Suitable for SC Clearance (essential)
