What it’s about
At the heart of the Innovation team within the Business Technology Services department of Cambridge Assessment, this role was created to meet the demand of a growing business working in new ways. Your days will be varied, challenging and range across projects for the whole Group. You will oversee and ensure steady forward momentum both in terms of project delivery and continuous improvement of the team(s) and our processes- learning quickly and failing fast. You will be able to evangelise our Agile approach and seek opportunities to establish positive relationships across the business units and surrounding support functions.
We need you to promote Agile - mainly Scrum but with a touch of Kanban (and have the ability to learn and be guided by others) - and seek out opportunities to maximise the value created by the team.
End-to-end, the role shapes the way we develop and deliver new digital projects. Working closely with business teams from across the Group; you will cover detailed requirements analysis, negotiating priorities, and close communication and feedback sessions with technical teams throughout the project lifecycle.
What you’ll be doing
A Natural Servant leader with the ability to leave one’s ego in check, you will have a strong relationship with your (ideally but not always) co-located team and the Product Owner(s) and provide them with excellent service daily - gaining their respect by setting the example of ‘excellence’. Along with supporting the Product Owner to manage the Backlog effectively by leading and coaching, you will deliver the Agile Project by removing blockages, knowing when to escalate and when to communicate
Day to day, you’ll attend and help deliver ‘Scrum of Scrum’ meetings, coach and develop the growing team(s) to self-organise and continuously improve. Using agile tools (e.g. JIRA) to track and report progress/velocity, you will facilitate planning and estimation within project teams. And of course, be awesome!
What we’re looking for
As a Scrum Master, you will already be proactive, adaptable and keen to be busy as we have lots of work to be done and also we need you to be firing up the team and engaging all the relevant stakeholders. As part of the Innovation Team, we need to know you are passionate about new technology, especially applied to learning and education.
Ideally you will be Scrum Master certified, have an extensive track record of performing a Scrum Master role - successes and failures and learnings are all equally important, and you’ll be able to use your strong analytical, verbal and written communications skills in influencing and negotiating. We look forward to hearing from you.
