Marine Engineer
A successful FTSE 100 engineering support services organisation is looking to take on a Marine Engineer to work within the concession and defect investigation team, in support of the submarine flotilla.
The Job
Based in Bristol, the marine engineer will ensure that the failures and design defects that are identified by the Submarines are captured, processed and investigated such that guidance can be given on the appropriate solutions.
To achieve this, the Marine Engineer will work closely with Ships Staff, relevant Subject Matter Experts across the business and other key stakeholders.
You will be responsible for creating reports which will be sent for approval before sending back to the submarine. It will involve liaising with MOD staff to ensure the relevant information is correct.
This is an office based role.

The Requirements
You do not need to have any prior knowledge of defects or concessions as training will be provided.
Marine Engineering Background; ideally from an electrical or mechanical background
Excellent report writing skills; must be able to write reports to a high grammatical standard.
Logical thinking; have a logical mind which can break down problems seeking all relevant information to generate reasonable conclusions based on analysis.
Communication skills; must be able to liaising with a variety of stakeholders
Submarine knowledge; this is desirable but not essential. It would be advantageous if the candidate understands how a submarine is put together

Salary: £34,085
Hours: 37 hours a week
Location: Keynsham, Bristol
Travel: other Bristol sites, Clyde, Plymouth and other UK locations as and when required
Security: SC + ITAR regulations apply
