About the Team:
Telefónica UK is a Communications Services Provider for Government’s Smart Metering Implementation Programme (contract value £1.5bn). The Programme is one of the largest Machine2Machine implementations in the World.
Your role:
The Smart Metering Vendor Contract Manager owns the day-to-day commercial relationship with our key vendors. The role holder is responsible for ensuring contract compliance, managing commercial risk and being the primary interface to resolve commercial issues.
Responsibilities:
Contract Change
o Advising, negotiating and executing the commercial terms of contract changes for the vendors by working closely with Head of Smart Metering Commercial and Contracts, Smart Metering Commercial Manager, Delivery, Procurement, Finance and Legal to achieve commercially robust outcomes
Governance
o Representing the vendor contract view in internal governance forums such as the Change Control Board and Service Management Board. Ensuring contractual and commercial considerations are made in all material programme decisions
Contract Compliance and Risk/Opportunity Management
o Working closely with the Smart Metering Programme team to ensure that vendors meet their contract obligations and taking remediation action where necessary
o Ensuring that critical dependencies are identified and delivered
o Pro-actively monitoring any delays and taking appropriate commercial action to protect Telefonica’s interests. Managing on-contract liabilities and disputes
o Working with the programme and finance identify and progressing opportunities to improve the business case
Demonstrable Experience:
Substantial previous contract management experience, preferably of large, high value, complex vendor contracts
Proven track record of building strong relationships with high-value partners across all levels and functions
Proven track record in commercial management and negotiation within high value and complex environments with ability to improve drivers of revenue and having outstanding commercial acumen.
Proven track record in internal stakeholder management with the ability to drive culture change across a diverse set of operational teams
Exceptional people and communications skills
Excellent negotiation skills
Ability to analyse and think strategically
Tenacity, self-motivation and drive
A team player and with the personal gravitas to become a driving force for vendor contract management in an organisation where this capability is lacking in maturity
