Senior Project Manager - Integrated and Smart Travel

Two Year Fixed-term / Secondment (public sector bodies only)
Salary:
Circa £50,000 per annum
Purpose:
Manage the development and delivery of Integrated and Smart Travel programme and projects to time, budget and quality standards in compliance within agreed project management standards and procedures.
Initial focus will be on working with TOCs to deliver rail season tickets and carnets, and associated retail and revenue inspection, card issue and customer support.

Role Responsibilities:
Programme Manager - Integrated and Smart Travel
1 Applied understanding of TfN's project and programme management standards and procedures in the areas of work assigned.
1 Ensure that appropriate Project Initiation Document for each designated projects are put in place.
1 Projects and programmes meet agreed Project and Programme Plan .
1 Projects and programmes managed in compliance with agreed procedures and guidelines established by PMS.
1 Secure approvals necessary to progress project(s) and programmes to the next stage of PMP.
1 Undertake systematic project reviews and agree action plans to address issues raised throughout the project lifecycle.
1 Development and application of TfN's project and programme management processes in all areas of work assigned.
1 Manage the handover and review of completed projects.
1 Stakeholder communication strategies in place for designated projects and programme activities and stakeholders made aware of project progress.
1 Effective project and programme delivery teams.
1 Secure and manage budgets necessary to progress project(s) and programmes to next stage in PMP.
1 People management.

Essential Experience:

Demonstrable post qualification experience of successful management of complex, multi-stakeholder projects using Prince2 methodology (or recognised equivalent)

Demonstrable ability to manage stakeholder relationships

Proven experience of managing consultants and other contributors to project implementation

Demonstrable experience in writing and presenting both technical and progress reports in an accessible manner

Demonstrable experience of co-ordinating and supervising multiple programmes of work

Experience of developing strategies for continuous improvement and of project performance measurement
E7
Ability to compile clear and concise technical and non-technical reports for a range of political, professional and lay-person audiences

Financial awareness and knowledge of cost management and control
