Control and Test Engineer / physicist - Cambridge

High technology design and engineering company based in Cambridge is now seeking a Control and Test Engineer for their ground breaking technology for mobile phone cameras. We are looking for someone who is passionate and interested. You must be very willing to travel to Asia and America a few times a year as the role requires to support the implementation of the control and test processes developed in Cambridge. It is likely that you will be a physicist.

Main Responsibilities

*Work within the team of mechanical, control, electronics, firmware and software engineers

*Develop and improve the test equipment and procedures to confirm the performance of the mechanics and control.

*Interface with our clients partners and customers to understand their requirements and to deliver the assistance that they need to use the product.

Applicants for this interesting role should have the following skills:

*Educated to degree level in Engineering/Physical Science ideally a first class degree from a top university

*Strong skills in experimental design.

*Experience of communicating, showing initiative, making decisions and arguing your point as a member of a team of highly skilled engineers.

*Ability to prioritise activities, balancing long and short term objectives and finding efficient ways to solve problems.

*A working understanding of mechanics.

*Ideally proficient software skills, in C and/or MATLAB

*Ideally experience of developing test equipment

*Ideally experience of developing robust control systems, ideally for controlling actuators.

*Ideally experience of working with microprocessors

*Ideally experience of transferring new technology into high volume mass production.
