Chess are currently looking to recruit a Senior Network Engineer to join a recently established, rapidly growing infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and driving the network team strategy forward and be responsible for operational activity. You will also actively engage with suppliers and third parties as well as managing the IT network, security and telecoms infrastructure across all sites including WAN, LAN, WLAN and Voice environments. The candidate will report to the Head of Technology.

Duties to include but not restricted to:

- Install and maintain network facilities, including hardware, software, and system data for all Chess networks including our WAN products.

- Install network applications on network servers or voice equipment; maintain, test, research and resolve problems. Determine appropriate standard testing routines or scripts; test various voice or data equipment such as routers, switches, hubs or optical equipment, or multi-function switches, end offices and signalling transfer points.

- Investigating and troubleshooting network availability and application problems and other requests for support.

- Design, implement and maintain various networks such as LAN, WAN, and voice systems in accordance with specified requirements.

- Prepares data or voice network diagrams and drawings to document and assist in communicating current operational status of networks to both internal and external customers.

- Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced members of the team.

- Prepare routine proposal documentation and information to meet internal and external customer requirements. Prepare routine cost analyses and vendor comparisons to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations, and measures feasibility of various approaches.

- Complex network design and implementation using dynamic protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP.

- Ensuring that all processes are followed and all issues are owned through to resolution.

You will need to demonstrate:

- Proven knowledge and competence of multi-site LAN & WAN environments including IP routing protocols, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, Advanced Security and complex, bespoke network designs.

- Highly competent at configuration and troubleshooting of networking products - firewalls, routers and switches.

- Expert troubleshooting in Datacentre, WAN and LAN network incidents

- Experience of network management tools.

- Excellent customer facing skills coupled with the ability to interact and work with all levels of management.

- Excellent documentation skills. Excellent communication skills (both written & oral).

- Ability to prioritise and organise workload, coupled with demonstrated experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines in a fast paced and changing environment.

Desirable Skills:

- Cisco CCNA Technical Accreditation

- Cisco CCNP Technical Accreditation

- Any knowledge of Linux is welcome

Package Details:

Basic salary: £40,000 - £45,000 p.a. dependent upon experience.

Bonus: Attractive performance based bonus to be paid monthly, plus a company bonus to be

paid every 6 months.

Hours: 37½ hours per week Monday to Friday, between 8am and 6pm. Out of hours’ work will occasionally be required as will travel between Chess sites.

Holiday Allowance: 20 days paid holiday p.a. increased upon anniversaries, ultimately to 24 days p.a., plus public holidays
