Heelis is the Central Office for the National Trust; it was named after one of the Trust’s biggest benefactors Mrs William Heelis, There are approximately 500 staff from across the Trust’s directorates, including the Executive team and the Director General, are based here.
Heelis was designed to be highly sustainable and has won a number of nationally recognised awards.Designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Architects in 2005, this architectural gem uses timber from our woodlands and wool from Herdwick sheep grazed on Trust farmlands, to help make Heelis a unique working environment.
About the role
You’ll form close working relationships with colleagues, third parties and internal stakeholders, offering support for applications and interfaces that have been developed by others. We want to be providing the very best solutions in the most effective way while ensuring that we’re meeting our IT standards. So, you’ll provide advice, clear guidance and effective support, making sure that we’re providing the best possible solutions in the most effective way. And as an enthusiastic problem solver, you’ll be ready to support and resolve technical issues, providing valuable input at every step of the project lifecycle to ensure that we’re producing innovative systems that we can be proud of.
About you
Influential and enthusiastic, accurate and diligent, you’re an analytical problem solver who makes things happen, when and where they need to happen. An expert in all things programming, you've extensive technical experience in a large, complex IT environment. It’s important that you have an understanding of Java, Spring, Hibernate, JUnit, Spring MVC, JDBC, and Maven. You’ll be naturally passionate about development with an impressive understanding of usability and accessibility best practices (W3C and DDA), test driven design and continuous build/integration. With a strong background of creating innovative, inventive solutions to technical challenges, you’ll be able to show us how you've applied your expertise to every aspect of the project lifecycle (both Agile and Waterfall).
