The Role:

Reporting to the Lead UI Designer, the UI Designer will work and help manage existing company digital platforms and contribute to new UI concepts. Working within a small, passionate and growing graphics team with a focus on UI design for audio products. They will work closely with other designers and engineers, showing initiative and drive to push projects and ideas, liaising with all parties to deliver on the graphic requirements, from developing concepts, preparing layouts and delivering high-end digital assets.

Responsibilities:

Must have an interest and some experience with user experience (UX/UI) specifications (from wireframes to final product visual specifications) for projects according to an agreed brief with a high degree of independence.

Have a solid working knowledge of design principles, typography, colour theory, layout, iconography and using grid systems.

Can adapt quickly and re-work existing assets and templates as required by design changes. Take into account and contribute to any existing design styles and ensure that any design work for new projects supports or evolves them where appropriate.

Have a broad understanding of how the user interacts with current smart devices and can make use of this knowledge in the development of new projects and concepts.

Develop high fidelity designs and make sure the final product is pixel precise to the initial design concept.

Clearly articulate your design, process and decisions made.

Must enjoy solving complex problems through elegant interface design.

Process feedback from customers and company stakeholders.

Participate in defining the design brief or setting up the design concept to answer the brief for new projects.

Good understanding of how design can be impacted by technological restraints, ability to work within those constraints, as well as the ability to tailor a design for mobile, tablet and the web.

Good, solid understanding of current usability and navigation issues and how to integrate these into current design concepts.

Liaise with other designers, software engineers and team leads throughout the project phase to ensure UI work consistently answers the brief.

Work on projects independently, within a team or in partnership with external teams

Keep abreast of industry design developments and technology, and be able to interpret how these would impact products from a design perspective. Sharing information, ideas and best practice with other GUI team members.

Requirements:

Educated to degree level, preferably in Art and Design, Human Computer Interaction or similar, with a strong portfolio of digital artwork.

Demonstrable experience as a UI/UX Designer or equivalent.

Online portfolio with a range of UI designs applied to mobile, desktop and web applications desired

Strong software skills in mainstream graphics applications (Adobe Creative Suite)

Excellent visual (sketches, wireframes, screen mockups, flow diagrams etc) verbal, and written communication and presentation skills.

Some experience of using Agile or similar preferred

Superior current knowledge of user experience principles, graphic design standards, design trends, and techniques for web and mobile software products.

Ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, multinational, cross functional team environment.

Advantageous:

Knowledge of professional Audio Software/Hardware would be desirable but not essential

3D modelling experience would be desirable but not essential
