Help the Met make the most of technology
Digital Policing is the team tasked with developing and delivering IT policies, processes, tools and services. Its work is crucial to helping MPS employees harness the full potential of information and technology in our total war on crime in the Capital.
Business Engagement is the vanguard of Digital Policing responsible for understanding business needs, managing demand, assisting operating units in developing business cases and commissioning work to satisfy the requirements of One Met Model 2020. Business Engagement is the lead function in all of Digital Policing’s dealings with its customers in the MPS.
The Senior Business Engagement Manager (SBEM) is a new role within the organisation structure and has three key distinct elements to it: 1) Demand Management; 2) Business Partnering; 3) Leadership / Management. The role requires someone who is a meticulous planner in demand management, a responsive business partner and an inspirational leader and manager. You must excel in general management but also be able to demonstrate top-rate commercial awareness and business acumen.
It is a key time to take on the position. Championing IT MPS-wide, you will face the challenge of guiding customers and Business Engagement through a major transformation programme. We are moving to a new operating model for Digital Policing that will change the way we deliver IT services. It will deliver a step change in how the MPS organises itself to produce technology and the governance and control frameworks that will ensure the public gains maximum value for money.
This transformation is an ongoing process - and this senior leadership role within Business Engagement will be critical to implementing the strategic priorities of the MPS, the UK’s largest and most technology focused Police Service.
The Senior Business Engagement Manager must have experience of working within an IT function of a large organisation (across the Public and / or Private sector). Whilst they do not necessarily have to come from a Public Sector organisation, they will have to demonstrate a clear understanding of the Government’s strategy and its implications on the MPS.

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
