My client is a leading engineering support services organisation with a multi-billion pound revenue.

My client works diligently behind the scenes delivering critical support in many sectors, including: Defence, energy, telecommunications, transport and education.

Role Summary

This is a leading role that requires experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams in the Rural and Commercial Property sectors.

My client wants someone with strong experience in land development / deals for the national utilities companies - electricity, gas, water, telecoms, fibre optics etc. The role will suit a general or rural planning/property manager from a utilities, telecoms or energy background. They will be heavily involved in retaining the business of 2 key accounts as well as further development into other areas i.e. telecoms. Based in Wetherby the role will involve project management, Landlord & Tennant acquisition of property, compulsory purchase, injurious infection (key area as may be losing a member of the team here) and wayleave (agreement allowing a utilities company to install cables / pipes across someone's land in exchange for annual payments).

Job Accountabilities

* Assisting with production of reports, plans and budgets, identifying savings, opportunities to mitigate costs by way of reducing land take, site selection, alternative pipeline routes and better timing/phasing of works.

* To closely liaise and integrate with delivery project teams to ensure correct planning and programming of land acquisitions to enable schemes to gain entry to land on time

* To represent at meetings with Local Authorities, Property Advisors, National Farmers Unions, County Land Owners Association, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, local MPs, to minimise adverse PR and maximum recognition of the

Company ™s Code of Practice and responsibilities to minimise disruption and damage to land and property

* Preparation of detailed budgets for Project Managers to assess likely costs involved in land acquisitions and compensation in connection with Capital schemes and budget monitoring to ensure financial objectives and budgets are not exceeded

* Provide advice on mitigation, negotiation and settlement of compensation before, during and after construction of the project and to ensure that compensation is paid in good time

* Liaise with Project Designers, owners and occupiers of property and third party professional advisors to minimise the impact of major schemes

* To assist with the training of surveying graduates working towards their Assessment of Professional Competence (APC)

Knowledge and Skills

* Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline

* Proven experience of acquiring commercial and agricultural land

Desirable Criteria

* The role holder will preferably have a wealth of relevant experience in dealing with a capital programme for a large utility company

* Preferably a full member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors

* Commercial skills and business understanding is essential together with experience in controlling costs associated with capital schemes

* To adapt to constant change, be flexible and have the ability to initiate change where required

* The role also requires liaison with a range of individuals and organisations both within and outside the Company and therefore good communication skills, both oral and written, are essential

* Good negotiating skills and a sound commercial approach are essential requirements together with the commitment and resilience to deal with a heavy and varied workload

* The ability to brief and co-ordinate a wide range of professional consultants, including Land Agents, Surveyors and Solicitors is essential on a continual and regular basis

Salary & Benefits

* £68,000 + car (BMW 3 series or 600 p/mth) + 20% bonus

* Working Hours / Shift Patterns Mon - Fri 08.30-17.00

* Required Start Date - ASAP

* Interview Format -1 or potentially 2 stage
