IT Architecture & Design play a pivotal role In setting the strategic technical direction of our architecture, platform and services and governing IT as a business function. Working across Operations and with the UK business the team sets clear direction for the IT Architecture and platforms, providing clarity as well as ensuring our suppliers and partners are aligned to the IT strategy and direction.

Your Role

Reporting to the Chief Architect you’ll be responsible for managing a team of E2E Solution Designers, providing design leadership and specialist IT Design Governance expertise and guidance. You’ll be accountable for ensuring the solutions delivered by their team are of a consistently high quality and:

Deliver against a clear and stable set of requirementsMove the IT Architecture forwardsAre operationally fit

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide expert advice and guidance to SDs and all other parts of the organisation.Provide quality assurance for key deliverables, i.e. HLD and any other SD agreed deliverablesRegularly review deliverables and seek feedback from key stakeholders to meet business needsTake ownership of any SD related issues and manage the resolution with business stakeholders.Support the definition and implementation of best practice Solution Design policies and methodologies that are tailored to the Telefonica UK environmentProvide leadership for the Solution Design team to identify best practice designInfluence the Architecture and Design approach and governance (i.e. methods, techniques and tools) on complex programmes Build strong relationships with the wider business and develop a good understanding of their strategy and key business driversPromote services of the Solution Design team within Operations and the wider business ensuring that the remit of the team is understood, when and how to engage with the team and how to support itLead SD resource management activities and support the management of supply and demand and the allocation of SD resource based on agreed priorities across the roadmapProvide a consistent and seamless SD resourcing service to the businessSupport collaboration and partnerships with Managed Service Providers to supplement permanent resource with additional SDsUnderstand short, medium and long term demand for resource both within their specific portfolios and wider and plan development activities to ensure that SD community have the appropriate skillsManage performance and development of the team of SDs, ensuring that all team members have clear objectives aligned to business priorities and development plans to enhance their skills. Monitor and review performance regularly, providing feedback and development opportunitiesSupport delivery of the Solution Design training/development plan including a clear succession plan for themselves and all team membersMonitoring of teams Capitalisation rates to ensure that the Architecture and Design team contribution to IT CAPEX targets are always met
