Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect 

I am looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join my client, a leading international provider of photonics sensors, near Stuttgart, Germany. In this dynamic position, you will play a pivotal role in shaping IoT data infrastructure and helping to create a scalable data catalogue to streamline metadata management efficiently.

Primary responsibilities

  • Design and optimise a highly efficient storage layer capable of handling vast amounts of sensor data, prioritising data integrity, speed, and scalability
  • Contribute to the development of a hybrid (Cloud and Edge) IoT data infrastructure
  • Construct a robust and scalable data catalogue, incorporating optimal approaches for different data
Essential experience
  • Relevant technical degree in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Computer Science or similar
  • Minimum 4+ years industry experience in data engineering, and at least one year as a data architect in the area of Big Data, IoT and the management of sensor data for data analysis and machine learning
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art storage technologies and their productive use i.e. noSQL, time series databases, document stores, graph databases, etc.
  • Familiarity with leading cloud platforms e.g. AWS, and experience in containerisation using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Solid programming skills in Python
  • Fluent English and minimum B1/2 German
