Hardware design for the power electronics industry

This Cambridge based team are developing novel technologies in the power electronics industry, incorporating digital/software control systems enabling more efficient transmission and management systems. They develop hardware systems from initial concept through to production release featuring, FPGAs, microcontrollers, and SoCs along with the associated control software. This role focuses on analogue and digital circuit design, PCB layout, and FPGA design along with testing and documentation. While understanding of power electronics is not required, any knowledge in this area would be beneficial.

Requirements:

  • Commercial experience of PCB design (schematic capture, layout, and simulation) for both analogue and digital circuits, ideally using Altium Designer
  • FPGA or PLD design knowledge using Verilog or VHDL
  • Proficiency with bench level electronics testing and ideally experience using external test houses for EMC and/or environmental tests
  • Skill with microcontroller programming in C and/or Python

The team works in conjunction with their European parent company with occasional joint projects, therefore optional travel to the continent is not uncommon. The Cambridge office is relaxed and allows for substantial home working. Alongside the generous salary a competitive pension and health care provisions are on offer to the successful candidate.
