Role Purpose:

To provide a strategic oversight, planning, governance and direction for data in this evolving dynamic business. With an experienced background in data management you will have the vision to create a data platform that is able to fulfil the needs of this diverse business, maximising data observability and the analytical techniques available to show the greatest value in our data. Working closely with the business and transformation teams to ensure data technology is constantly evolving and making the most out of industry developments.

 

Responsibilities:

Operational

  • Help to define the principles, policies, processes and specifications for data architecture
  • Define, create and maintain the data strategy in conjunction with business stakeholders
  • Deliver specialist advice and best practice to all stakeholders
  • Develop KPI's and reporting tools to measure data integration, quality and performance
  • Translate data analysis into valuable insights and information that can prove or challenge a way of thinking, using the most applicable analytical techniques
  • Provide data expertise at the inception stage of each project to ensure that data is woven into the fabric of each delivery
  • Lead Data Governance, creating, implementing and setting standards and improving security posture across the business
  • Assist with problem management. Actively engage in identifying issues and subsequent solutions, whilst working collaboratively across teams and classifying and managing associated risks
  • Constantly evaluating latest data trends in the market to ensure that F&M is employing the right sized, best in class data technology for the business.

 

People & Collaboration 

  • Acting as a translator, effectively communicating complex data concepts between the non-technical business stakeholders and the technical data engineers and vice versa
  • Support third parties working for or in conjunction with our overall data requirements, ensuring that they meet our standards and ways of working
  • Keep up to date with trends and new ways of working and emerging trends within the industry and within the data stack itself, actively learning and ensuring that new applications and platforms are explored and understood. Understand the impact of these trends on the organisation in data tooling, analysis techniques and data usage
  • Collaborate with each area of the technology teams to share the data strategy so it is realised

Previous Experience (including qualifications where relevant)

  • Proven experience of working as a Data Architect of 5 years, preferably within the Retail sector and exhibit a passion for technology.
  • Demonstrable experience of the systems listed below that are identified as Essential to the role
