Step into an exhilarating role where you'll be pioneering the future of automotive technology as our Lead Network Protocols Engineer at JLR. Shape the digital landscape upon which we build the next generation of JLR vehicles across our esteemed house of brands.

In this role, you'll be part of an agile squad driving innovation, assessing, and developing ground breaking vehicle network technologies for integration throughout the JLR digital platform.

Within the squad you will be responsible for authoring, developing & owning the JLR Network Comms requirements. Working with the component teams on AUTOSAR Classic, AUTOSAR Adaptive and POSIX nodes to deliver the required network capability via their products across the JLR Digital Platform.

Further responsibilities include the design, validation and maintenance of the JLR Network Specific comms requirements across the Data Link, Network, Transport and Software layers for various Automotive Networks such as Ethernet, CANFD & LIN. These requirements will be used to ensure we deliver a complete and cohesive network across all the sourced networked components. Working with the Networks validation team to author and develop test cases used to validate the JLR Digital Platform.

You will need to work within cross functional teams to identify, document and validate the constraints and capability of each new network technology and effectively communicate these throughout the business in order to shape the definition of the next digital platform.  

You are responsible for leading the network communication qualification activities for new technologies across the V, including co-ordination of commercial activities with the procurement team.

Your tasks will include supporting component and supplier teams in the application of the requirements and queries that arise from the completion of unit level test cases as well as the central integration team’s system level testing.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

Significant experience in the design of Automotive Network Communications for AUTOSAR Classic, Adaptive and POSIX ECU’s and associated network Requirements.

Experience in across a range of Automotive Networks including Ethernet.

Experience in development and test methods used to define, assess and qualify Data Link, Network, Transport & Software Requirements technologies for automotive applications.

Awareness of Automotive Network Technology & Semiconductors products and subsequent requirements desirable.

Strong understanding of Industry standards associated with Vehicle Network Communications Standards.

Understanding of development and simulation methods used for network design desirable.

Ability to work across distributed teams as well as independently with a motivated and structured way of working with a desire to understand and introduce new technology.
