Position Overview

As a Senior RF MMIC Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading the design and development of their RF frontend system for Ku and Ka band satellite communication terminals. This challenging role involves making strategic decisions on system-level architecture, developing crucial subsystems, and leading their MMIC strategy. You will collaborate with a talented team to analyse system architectures, define module and component specifications, and work closely with IC vendors to identify solutions that meet their performance and cost requirements. Your responsibilities will encompass design, simulation, integration, and testing of all RF components, including HPAs, LNAs, beamformers, mixers, PLLs, signal distribution, and filtering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical, Communications, Microwave, or a related Engineering discipline
  • Experience in Microwave Circuits, MMIC Development, SATCOM Terminals, Phased Arrays, Signal Processing, Systems Engineering, and RF engineering
  • Expertise in transistor-level IC design, tape-out, and testing within the Ku/Ka frequency bands, with experience in technology nodes such as CMOS, CMOS-SOI, SiGe, GaAs, GaN
  • Understanding of various IC technology nodes and their impact on performance and cost
  • Experience in VSAT terminal design and/or phased arrays
  • Knowledge of RF system architecture design and simulation
  • Proficiency in circuit topologies, critical design parameters, and considerations related to HPA, LNA, Vector Modulator, Switch, Mixer, and other frontend MMICs
  • Skilled in using RF measurement equipment such as spectrum analysers, vector network analysers, oscilloscopes, power meters, etc.
  • PCB design, layout, simulation, and testing experience
  • Knowledge of antenna design and characteristics
  • Experience with satellite link analysis
  • Proficiency in software tools like Agilent ADS, HFSS, MATLAB
Responsibilities as a Senior MMIC Engineer 
  • Lead the RF system architecture design
  • Participate in discussions related to technology development roadmaps
  • Develop the MMIC strategy
  • Design, simulate, test, and document RF sub-system
  • Derive module and component requirements
  • Conduct detailed simulations of systems, modules, PCBs, and components
  • Collaborate with IC design houses, foundries, and vendors
  • Deliver customer presentations
  • Create test plans and validate designs in the laboratory
  • Optimise designs to meet calibration requirements, as well as DFM and DFT considerations
Additional Skills
  • Background in phased array development is highly desirable
  • Effective and composed communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal staff and effective interaction with suppliers and customers
  • Ability to present information effectively in team meetings and design reviews, as required
  • Willingness to travel as needed (not expected to exceed 20%).
